Welcome to RecipeFAQ!
I’m Alain and I’m glad you’re here! If you love making food, enjoy a good glass of wine or a cocktail or two, and are curious about food, you’re in the right place.
For me, cooking is all about learning. And the best way to learn is by asking questions. That’s where RecipeFAQ comes in. We answer your food-related queries on everything from storage tips and recipe amounts to ingredient substitutions and wine pairings.
💁🏻♂️ My background
For the past 25 years, I’ve called Portland, Oregon home. My first career when I moved here was as a TV news producer, covering everything from politics to crime, and yes, food!
After another few years (ok, about 15 years) in various marketing roles, I began to work full-time with my wife, Marlynn Jayme Schotland, on her food, wine, and travel site Urban Bliss Life, which she started way back in 2004! We met in journalism school and have been together ever since. Learn more about her below ⬇️.
Along the way, I began learning about different foods from around the world, as well as tips and tricks on how to make them. And I expanded my knowledge about the wines grown right here in the Pacific Northwest.
🤔 What is RecipeFAQ?
With so much information available about food ingredients, how to store them, what’s gluten-free and what isn’t, which wine pairs well with what dishes, and more, it was sometimes difficult to know which sources to trust.
That’s the inspiration behind RecipeFAQ. We wanted to create a place where people could go to find honest, reliable information on the foods and drinks they use every day, as well as some they may have never heard of.
This site is the perfect combination of our journalistic roots and our dive into the world of cuisine — a platform that places an emphasis on food facts and culinary curiosity.
