What is Yeti drinkware?
Yeti makes primarily drinkware and coolers aimed mainly at adventurists and other outdoor lovers. Though, you don’t need to go kayaking or scale a mountain every weekend to enjoy them. I haven’t done either activity, but I still love my Yeti mug!
Items like their water bottles are also popular with regular gym goers as they can keep cold beverages cool for a long time — up to several hours. That’s thanks to the double-wall vacuum insulation found on many Yeti bottles and other drinkware.

Can you microwave a Yeti?
Ok, here’s why you can’t microwave a Yeti mug or tumbler.
Yeti mugs and tumblers — and some water bottles — are made from stainless steel. And you shouldn’t put a metal object in the microwave. It essentially acts as an electric field and can create too much heat, which can lead to sparking and even fires. And that’s not good.
Microwaves work well to warm up food because food is permeable. The microwaves themselves can pass through it and heat it up without too much excess energy building up in one particular area.
Stainless steel doesn’t let microwaves pass through efficiently. Rather, it absorbs the electrical energy. At a certain point, the intense heat becomes excessive and arcing occurs, which can result in sparks and cause a fire hazard.
Aluminum foil acts in a similar way if crumpled up, as the jagged edges attract electricity and generate excessive heat.
The bottom line: It’s a bad idea and simply unsafe to put a Yeti cup in a microwave oven.
Can I microwave a plastic Yeti water bottle?
Stainless steel isn’t the only product Yeti uses to make its drinkware. Some water bottles are made from plastic. So can you microwave those?
Again, the best option is to avoid microwaving them. This is true for most plastic food and drinkware, as they can contain BPA (an industrial chemical found in certain plastics, formally known as bisphenol A), that can seep into foods and beverages.
The good news is that Yeti plastic water bottles are BPA-free. But the bigger question is: why would you want to microwave a plastic water bottle anyway. That water is supposed to be cold! Just saying.
Is Yeti drinkware dishwasher safe?
Yes! Yeti drinkware is safe to put in the dishwasher. All Yeti stainless steel and plastic bottles are dishwasher safe. It’s recommended that you put the Yeti lid on the top rack and the sliders and rubber gaskets (if your cup has them) in the utensils area.
Or if you prefer, you can wash them by hand with warm soapy water.
Can you put a Yeti in the oven?
Wow, your drink must be really cold! You know, you could consider just making a new batch of coffee or boiling more water for your tea instead of making the leap to wondering whether you can put your Yeti stainless steel cup in the oven. But here’s your answer…
Can you put your Yeti in the oven? No, you can’t. Yeti advises people not to place liquids that exceed a maximum temperature of 185° in their drinkware, as it could damage them.
But hey, if you use it correctly, your Yeti stainless steel tumbler or coffee mugs will keep your hot liquid hot for hours anyway thanks to its thick insulation and stainless steel construction. So, chill out.

What’s the best way to reheat the contents of my Yeti?
If your morning coffee goes cold, rather than putting your Yeti tumbler cup in the microwave, it’s a good idea to simply place the drink in a microwave-safe cup, ceramic mug, or other microwave-safe container and heat it up a safer way.
