Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef 80% or 85% lean works best for juicy burgers
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder for subtle flavor
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder to enhance the savory taste
  • ½ teaspoon salt or adjust to your liking
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper for a mild kick
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce optional but adds depth
  • 4 hamburger buns any style you prefer for serving
  • cheese lettuce, tomato, or your favorite toppings for serving as desired

Instructions

  • Place the ground beef in a large mixing bowl. Sprinkle the garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper evenly over the meat. Add the Worcestershire sauce if using.
  • Gently mix the seasonings into the beef using your hands, just until combined - avoid overmixing to keep the burgers tender.
  • Preheat your air fryer to 380°F for 5 minutes.
  • While it preheats, divide the beef into 4 equal portions and shape each one into a patty about ½ inch thick. Press two fingers into the center of each patty to make a small indentation - this helps prevent them from puffing up during cooking. Lay the patties on a sheet of parchment paper or a plate until ready to cook.
  • Once the air fryer is preheated, arrange the burgers in the basket in a single layer. Cook in batches if needed to avoid overlapping.
  • Air fry the burgers at 380°F for 5 minutes. Flip, then cook for another 5-7 minutes until fully cooked through. The internal temperature should reach 160°F.
  • To add cheese, place a slice on each cooked burger while still in the basket. Close the air fryer (turned off) for about a minute to melt the cheese.
  • Serve on buns with your favorite toppings.

Notes

You can shape the burger patties and then freeze before cooking. Place a piece of parchment paper between the patties to keep them from sticking together and freeze in an airtight container for up to 2 months.
If cooking frozen burgers, add a few minutes to the cook time. Make sure that they cook through to 160° F in the center.
